Well I survived the weekend & considering it was nonstop Go Go Go with Gramma's b-day dinner on Friday & a big huge open house on Sat -then off with the Kids to a hockey game & a full day of spring cleaning in the yard on Sunday ..I am marking it as a success !
Not only did I have NONE of either of the cakes ( Jamie is a good scapegoat -I said I'd just eat some of his! ) but I got smart & had a protein shake before the dinner then just ate a bunch steamed veggies & left the rice on my plate.. yea I know sounds like a waste of money at a smorgasbord .. but really I just don't feel like getting into "why I'm not eating" at this particular time with the whole family there..
then I made some pretty good choices on Sat at the open house .. with a few "free day" treats & a bit of wine. & I even managed NOT to eat the popcorn that we got for the kids at the Hockey game! Funny what a different mind set can do .. usually lately I've come out of a weekend having wiped out any progress I might have made during the week.
-- NO MORE :)
So now today I've begun my first day of a New program ...Did weights today here at home so as to not embarrass myself
..& it was kinda funny to try & figure out what sort of weights I can still lift since I've been doing next to nothing with them for so damn long...
I also discovered that if I have a 90lb Olympic bar to move around the play room doing squats -I'd better be careful cause it'd be all too easy to put it through the wall! Oooops!
anywho I didn't go absolutely nuts & overboard- but I know now it's time to test my limits & figure out how to really push myself!
So we'll see how things unfold as I go along :)

Here's a big pat on the back to you girl! Not eating the cake and being prepared with the protein shake beforehand....that's great! That's when you KNOW you're ON and FOCUSED. That's awesome.
About the weights, I SOOOO hear you on that one. I feel so weak now after going so long without really lifting. Time to get our MUS-KELS back! Remember, we were teammies back when! ;)
I thank my lucky stars every day that I have a nice set of free weights at home... I would probably never lift weights at all if I had to do it in front of other people! Nearly 6 weeks into my current attempt at strength training I am FINALLY getting up to levels I am not completely humiliated by! Good for you getting back to it... I truly believe building muscle is the key to everything with health & fitness!
Yay for you and starting a new program! I should do the same. I'm sort of all over the place right now with my wacky work schedule.
Great job on the weekend!!! That's totally my downfall too. Gotta get your mindset.
Good job on the workout. Before you know it those muscles will be popping out and any fat you have will be just melting away!
OMG you are right, you could tear us outta the same page of a book!!
I ate good before hubby and the kiddos and I headed out to the local pizza buffet. It's all about being 1 step ahead of the game!
I have gotten over people saying, "why aren't you eating?" by doing the same thing as you. Getting the good stuff and just piddling around it. They don't actually want you to put the food IN your mouth they just wanna have you at the table. So really, why aren't you eating can be categorized the same as, why are you not sitting down and enjoying all the company???
One day at a time my friend, we will get to the end of the road together ok? Even if we have to run beside each other and drag each other cross the finish line, we will and CAN do it!
Stay positive, stay focused.
Jo
Wow, take a few days off from the computer and I come back to find you flying high and on a mission! Wahoo!!!! Keep it up!
Great job on overcoming the weekend temptations! You're on the right track for the new program. Good luck!
I hear you on the weights. Luckily, most of the females at my gym lift less than me. And I'm not strong by any means.
lol - pool cues and weight bars... gotta be careful!
klutz
:P
Yeah for you! I am so glad you are back at it. Hang in there on your weights and you will be lifting those heavy ones in no time at all.Maybe, you should skip the Olympic bar though cause that sounds a bit dangerous.
thanks for all great.. & some "helpful" feedback..
I'll be sure to stay more FOCUSED next time I'm lifting! :P ~lol~
